KAMPALA ( Halbeeg News) – Uganda People Defense Force Captain has committed suicide after shooting a colleague in Somalia.
The soldier whose identity hasn’t been established reportedly turned his gun on himself after shooting his colleague for an unknown reason.
Uganda Ministry of Defense and UPDF spokesperson, Brigadier Richard Karemire confirmed the incident but declined to give more details.
“It’s true. Investigations into the incident have started,” Brig Karemire said.
This incident comes a month after a similar incident happened on May 13, 2019. Details of that incident have also remained away from the media limelight.
It is not clear if the killing in peacekeeping operations is connected to post-traumatic stress related to the battlefield.
