Several people are feared to have been killed in the outskirts of Kismayo town following heavy fighting between Somali forces and allied forces.
Reports say heavily Al-Shabaab fighters stormed a military camp jointly manned by Jubbaland forces and U.S. mentors.
The fighters reportedly attacked the base from different directions.
According to sources, the clashes between Jubbaland forces backed by Somali Military and U.S. forces lasted for hours.
The fighting reportedly caused casualties on both sides.
Somali Military officials have not yet commented on casualties of the fighting.
Al-Shabab fighters have increased their attacks against Somali Military and African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) forces in central and South Somalia.
Since last week, the group raided military bases in Kulbiyow, Badhere, Bal-Khadar towns.
The attacks claimed lives of dozens of both sides.
In the latest deadly ambush by Al-Shabab took place on Tuesday evening when Heavily armed Alshabab fighters stormed a convoy carrying lawmakers and high-ranked officials near Bal’ad town, about 30km north of Mogadishu.
The attacked claimed lives of five people among them two regional lawmakers.
