KISMAYO (Halbeeg News) – Al-Shabaab commander was on Sunday killed following covert operations by Somali forces against the group in southern Somalia.
Speaking to the media, Isma’il Abdi Malik Malin, commander of SNA’s 16th Unit said the forces managed to neutralise the militant leader identified as Ali Garweyne near Jamame town of Lower Jubba region.
Malin said Sunday operations were carried out on tips off by the public that the group was amassing fighters in the area.
According to the commander, the militants tried to resist but were overpowered them.
During the operations, the forces also managed to kill four other fighters who fighting alongside Garweyne.

“Our forces destroyed many bases used by the militants as hideouts in the area and we killed five of them in a fierce confrontation between the army and the militants,” said Malin.
