JANALE ( Halbeeg News) – Al-Shabaab fighters have reportedly killed two traders in Lower Shabelle region.
According to the locals, two traders who were transporting goods on ox-cart were murdered in an area between Janale and Bufow town on their to Marka town.
The incident took place on Wednesday evening.
A local resident who spoke to the media on condition of anonymity said the fighters waylaid the victims and led them to a village which is controlled by the group.
“The traders were heading to Marka town, on their way, al-Shabaab fighters captured them, they were accused delivering food to the government-controlled town. The two were shot dead, and the commodities were torched,” he said.
Somali government and al-Shabaab did not comment on the incident.
The murder of the traders comes barely a day after a sailor died and three others injured following al-Shabaab attack on a fishing boat near Marka town.
According to the former Marka district commissioner, Mohamed Osman Yarisow, the boat went area controlled by the group for fishing, but al-Shabaab suspected it and opened fire on it.
Al-Shabaab which lost many towns to Somali army and African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) troops tries to impose sanctions on the government manned towns by forcing the locals to stop supplying goods to those areas.
