MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Heavily armed al-Shabaab fighters have this morning attacked two Somali military bases in Southwest of Somali capital.
According to witnesses, Al-Shabaab fighters detonated VBIEDs at the gates of the military bases in Barire and Awdhegle towns before the fighters stormed the bases, prompting fierce fighting.
There was no immediate official comment or details on casualties but one military officer in the army confirmed the attacks for Reuters.
The bases, located about 100 km (60 miles) southwest of the capital Mogadishu.
