Jubbaland administration has released a lawmaker, Ahmed Hassan Aden who was in jail after the charges against him were dropped.
Hassan was arrested before five days by Security forces who raided his home after he was accused of inciting political crisis in the state.
Jubbaland President, Ahmed Mohamed Islaam evening ordered the release of the MP who said to have been planning motion against Jubbaland cabinet prior to his detention.
Resignation
Speaking to state owned radio after the release; Hassan stated that he resigned from his position as a lawmake.
Hassan underlined that he resigned from his position as a lawmaker representing his people in Jubbaland assembly for the sake of Jubbaland development following conflicting opinions and persistent disagreement.
His release comes barely three days after Jubbaland deputy president Mohamud Siyad Adan said the MP woul be arraigned in court.
” Ahmed Hassan Abdi is accused of lying and spreading false statements against the MPs, he used their signatures without their consent for unlawful actions, he will be arraigned in court within 24 hours” The vice president said while speaking to VOA Somali service.
Losing impunity
Jubbland assembly had stripped off the immunity from Hassan after the assembly’s Ethnic, Discipline and Immunity committee accused him of violating the constitution.
The move came after the MP and several others were said to have submitted a vote of no confidence motion against Jubbaland cabinet.
President Islaam was said to have opposed the motion and eventually disintegrated he caucus, leading to the arrest of Hassan.
