GURIEL (Halbeeg News) – Ahlusunna Jamaa, a moderate Islamist group in central Somalia has expressed their readiness to negotiate with the Galmudug administration barely two days after the group’s fighters clashed with Galmudug state forces outskirts of Dhusamareeb town.
Speaking to the media, the group leader Sheikh Mohamed Shakir said their move to visit those areas was meant pay tribute to the deceased sheikhs.
The leader accused the government of attacking his forces while visiting graves of their deceased clerics.
“We came to our areas to visit some graves of our clerics, and then we saw the problems of Al-Shabaab on the people and we declared war on Al-Shabaab, and the Galmudug administration invaded us instead of fighting Al-Shabaab,” said Shakir.
The remarks of the group come on the heal of Prime minister Mohamed Hussein Roble’s call for cease fire in Galmudug areas.
“There is administration in Galmudug that has full legitimacy and is responsible for the security of the Galmudug region, so any action that appears to be disrupting governance system in Galmudug should be avoided,” ” The mobilization armed forces and attacks that threaten stability should be stopped,” Roble said in a statement.
Roble also called on the Galmudug administration and its people to unite against Al-Shabaab and any other anti-peace elements threatening to destabilise governance and development of Galmudug state.
Ahlusunna Waljama forces on Friday seized Guriel town after Galmudug state forces withdrew from the town.
