Kenya’s Parliament Majority leader, Adan Barre Duale has lambasted the blatant infringement of United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Somalia’s sovereignty and unity.
Duale accused the Arabian Peninsula nation of undermining Somalia’s legitimate institutions to function.
“What is going on in Somalia is proxy war led by UAE mercenaries to undermine the sovereignty, legitimate government and institutions,” said Duale.
He called on Somali people to defend their country from external interference.
“Somalis must not allow foreign mercenaries to destabilize their country,” he urged.
The remarks come barely two weeks after Somalia took its campaign against UAE’s trespass to global arena.
Somali ambassador to UN, Abukar Osman told the Security Council the actions of the Arabian Peninsula nation violate the international laws.
These actions by UAE in Somalia are in clear violation of international law, the Charter of the United Nations and the norms of international cooperation,” said Osman.
Abu Dhabi has been involved in attempts to sign backdoor agreements with Somalia regional states.
One of its port operators, DP World had engaged a 30 year concessions to control ports with Puntland state and the breakaway Somaliland.
The move has culminated in the banning of DP World from Somalia.
