MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somalia’s acting Prime Minister Mahdi Mohamed Gulaid has called upon the members of the international community to respect the sovereignty of his country.
Mr. Gulaid chaired his first cabinet meeting on Sunday since his appointment as caretaker premier.
The cabinet meeting highlighted the Federal Government’s appreciation to the international community but also stressed the need for respect of the country’s sovereignty.
“The cabinet stressed the need for our partners to respect the sovereignty of our nation and our constitution as well as the UN Diplomatic Convention.” Acting PM said.
The meeting also discussed strengthening security and COVID 19 response as well as the delivery of services for the citizens during this transitional period.
“I had the honour of chairing my first Cabinet meeting as acting PM today. The key issues that were discussed included further strengthening security and our Covid19 response as well as effectively continuing to deliver for the Somali people during this transitional period.”
