MOGADISHU ( HALBEEG NEWS) – The acting Prime Minister of Somalia Mahdi Mohamed Guled has chaired an emergency cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
The special gathering before the usual weekly meeting on Thursday discussed COVID-19 prevention measures as air transport resumes, the ongoing locust infestation, and humanitarian assistance to the citizens affected by the floods following torrential Haga rains across the country.
The meeting resolved to urgently establish a special committee to spearhead humanitarian response to affected citizens across the country.
Early last week the Federal Government provided USD 500,000 to purchase emergency supplies to help families affected by the flooding mainly in the Lower Shabelle region.
