MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Abdiaziz police commissioner, Ahmed Bashane has been suspended barely three days after al-Shabaab fighters attacked a hotel in his district.
Over twenty people died and more than 40 others sustained injuries in deadly attack and subsequent four hours siege by al-Shabaab fighters.
Somali police chief Gen Abdi Hassan Hijar has suspended the commissioner, pending further investigation.
The police investigate the possibility of facilitation of al-Shabaab car bomb into the district.
According to the chief, several soldiers were also arrested on suspicion of facilitating car bomb with Al-Shabab attackers to pass through checkpoints.
Al-Shabaab claimed the responsibility for the attack saying it killed dozens of government officials.
