A delegation led by Somali minister for Ports, Maryan Aweys Jama’a on Thursday arrived in Barawe town.
The minister and her delegates who comprise of Somali government officials and Qatar officials were welcomed by the local authorities in the town.
According to Sources, the minister and officials will be visiting Barawe port for assessment.
The officials are expected to hold discussions with the local authorities and politicians in Barawe town.
Somali government in cooperation with Qatar government plans to renovate the most ports in the country to boost the economy of the country.
Barawe town is the designated to be the administrative capital of Southwest state which currently operates in Baidoa town 240km southwest of Mogadishu.
Located some 220 Km (120 miles) South of the Somali capital, Barawe town been had a supply route for weapons and food for Alshabaab till 2014 when Somali forces backed AMISOM troops flushed out the militants from the town.
