Mogadishu, (Halbeeg News) – Somalia has repatriated 109 Somali citizens, including minors from Yemen as part of its ongoing efforts to repatriate its nationals stranded abroad.
The exercise was facilitated by the Somali government in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Government officials who welcomed the returnees at Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport Tuesday emphasized the administration’s commitment to address the plight of displaced citizens.
The officials stated that efforts are underway to provide immediate support and long-term assistance to the returnees and ensuring sustainable solutions for displaced citizens.
The repatriation exercise highlights the importance of international cooperation in addressing humanitarian challenges and underscores the Somali government’s commitment to protecting its diaspora.
