MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali prime minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has called for calm and dialogue to end stand off following close to 24 hour heavy clashes in Somali capital.
Mogadishu on Sunday hosted fierce fighting between Somali forces and pro-opposition military soldiers, which started after SNA soldiers protesting the term extension entered Mogadishu from Middle Shabelle region.
The clashes happened at several districts including Hodan, Howl-wadag, Abdiaziz and Karan.
The casualties of the clashes are yet unknown as the town is in complete lockdown.
Speaking to the media, Prime Minister Roble said he was saddened by Sunday’s violence in the capital.
The PM stated that dialogue and understanding is the best approach to solving the crisis.
EU and UK condemned the violence in the capital, calling on the rival sides to resolve their differences at negotiating table.
