KISMAYU (Halbeeg News) – Unidentified gunmen have seriously wounded well-known lawyer in Southern Somali seaport, Kismayu.
Reports say lawyer Ahmed Jama Qalyar was heading to a mosque in his neighbourhood when he was attacked by armed men.
Ahmed who is the chairperson of Jubalanders for Change was rushed to a hospital in Kismayu where he is undergoing treatment.
No group has claimed the responsibility for the attack and the motive of the attack has not yet been disclosed.
Neither Jubbaland nor the Federal Government has commented on the attack against the lawyer.
Ahmed was leading the politicians opposing the incumbent controversial Jubbaland leader, Ahmed Mohamed Madobe.
