MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali National Army (SNA) has claim to have killed one of al-Shabaab top leaders amid dispatched hundreds of soldiers to Hiiraan region to operations against al-Shabaab.
Through its own radio, SNA said Ali Dhere who was the spokesperson of al-Shabaab succumbed to injured he sustained during clashes with Somali forces in central Somalia.
There were no independent sources confirms the claims by Somali military but Somali forces in collaboration with local militias have been fighting al-Shabaab fighters in Hiiraan and Galgaduud regions for the past month.
Last week, in a video posted by Radio Mogadishu, the state-owned media, Somali infantry commander Somali National Army, Gen. Mohamud Tahlil Bihi was seen vowing to kill al-Shabaab spokesperson.
Somali government dispatched hundreds of Gorgor forces to Hiiraan region to join the ongoing offensive against Al-Shabaab.
The deployment comes two days after al-Shabaab a triple suicide bombing killed more than 30 people in Beledweyne town of Hiiraan region.
Among those victims killed in the attacks were regional minister, MPs and other government officials.
