MOGADISHU ( Halbeeg News) – Somali President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Prime Minister, Hassan Kheyre held talks with visiting Vice President of the World Bank, Hafiz Ghanim on Sunday.
Ghanim who arrived in Mogadishu earlier today cut the ribbon of the new World Bank office in the country.
Together with Regional Director, Eastern Africa at IFC – International Finance Corporation, Jumoke Jagun-Dokunmu discussed the debt cancellation process for Somalia which is expected to conclude in February 2020.
World Bank Vice President, Hafiz Ghanim said his visit translates to the commitment by the bank in the debt relief process and the economic reforms undertaken by the Federal government of Somalia towards the process.
The head of state, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheyre thanked World Bank for the continuous support it provides to the people and the government of Somalia.
Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheyre and Finance Minister, Abdulrahman Duale Beyle recently visited Washington as a follow up on the final process for the debt cancellation process.
Somalia owes the world over 5 billion USD that was loaned before the collapse of the central government of Somalia.
