LONDON (Halbeeg News)-Somali oil and gas conference hosted by Spectrum, the seismic data processing company, will today start in London.
The controversial conference will focus on the results of seismic surveys to be presented by Somalia and the company involved, according to Somali petroleum minister, Abdirashid Mohamed Ahmed.
The minister who is in London together with a delegation from Somali government has dispelled the allegations that his plans to auction oil block during the event.
Speaking to BBC, minister Abdirashid said Somali government would not invite bids for offshore oil blocks at the London event.
“During 7th February conference in London, Somali government will only display the legal and regulatory framework, and it will also come with the oil block gained through insight 2D seismic data,” he said.
The Upper House National Resource Committee says the laws have not yet been passed to allow for the sale of any oil blocks.
“The house is yet to debate on the petroleum law and other related regulations including investment, revenue, and environmental protection,” the statement reads in part.
