NAIROBI (Halbeeg News)- Kenya’s Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) have set the by-election for Wajir West Constituency for April 25 on Monday.
The electoral commission has directed all parties interested in participating in the poll to submit the list of their candidates before 11th February.
This announcement comes days after the Speaker of the Kenyan National Assembly Justin Muturi declared the Wajir West seat vacant following a court decision that saw the invalidation of Mr. Ahmed Kolosh’s election by the Supreme Court.
Mr. Kolosh’s victory was nullified over irregularities at Qara polling station.
The petition was filed by Mr. Abdirahman Ibrahim Ahmed who was dissatisfied by the Court of Appeal’s decision to overturn High Court’s ruling which had nullified the poll result.
Several candidates have already declared an interest in seat including former member Abdikadir Ore.
The final ruling on Wajir gubernatorial case is expected to be in the forthcoming weeks.
