GARISSA ( Halbeeg News)-Kenyan Police in Garissa town has seized seven AK47 rifles and dozens of ammunition in an operation on Wednesday.
North Eastern regional Commissioner Mohamed Birik who spoke to the media said the weapons were to be transported to Nairobi.
The Commissioner also confirmed the arrest of 12 suspects in connection with the guns saying they were being detained pending further investigations.
Birik said police were on high alert, adding that no criminal would survive.
We are extra vigilant and let me warn those youth engaging in terrorists that their days are numbered,” he said.
The development comes amid Kenya has launched the operation to hunt Al-Shabaab sympathizers after two attacks occurred in its capital Nairobi this month.
On 15th this of this month, deadly attack at an upscale hotel in Westlands, the Dusit D2 Hotel has shattered the city’s longtime peace.
The coordinated attack left 21 people dead and many others nursing injuries.
Barely two weeks after the Dusit D2 Hotel, another explosion outside a restaurant in downtown Nairobi left two people injured.
