MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – President Farmajo pledges to bridge the gap between the upper and house of the people of the federal parliament
The president of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has promised to mediate the difference between the upper house and the house of the people of the federal parliament while closing the fourth session of the parliament on Tuesday.
“I want to inform you that I will start the mediation process between the upper and house of the people of the parliament,” the president said. “I have received a letter from the upper house confirmation the halt of working relations with the house of the people.”
Upper house of Somali parliament also referred to us the Senate halted their working relations with the house of the people earlier this month.
In a letter dated 1st of January, the Senate accused the house of the people of violating the constitution by confining itself in finance and foreign relations issues without engaging the upper house as per the constitution.
The president was speaking during a dinner event with the members of the house of people held at the presidential palace to mark the end of the fourth session of the parliament before the break.
The head of state said his government will focus on reconciliation efforts among various groups in the country and the liberation of areas still under the control of the armed group al- Shabaab as top priorities in the new year’s agenda.
