(Halbeeg News) – At least six Al-Shabaab fighters have been killed and one the group’s technical vehicles destroyed after US military hit one of the group’s training bases in Southern Somalia.
The U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) official confirmed the attack which was carried out Tuesday in Somalia’s Bay region saying the raid caused no civilian casualties.
According to an official who spoke to VOA, the US military conducted four aerial bombardments.
Two strikes on Monday near Baqdaad killed four Al-Shabaab members, and one on Sunday killed six Al-Shabaab members near Dheerow Sanle in Lower Shabelle region.
The U.S. military says no civilians were injured or killed in any of these airstrikes.
The U.S. carried out at least 47 such airstrikes last year in the Horn of Africa nation.
Al-Shabaab continues to control some parts in southern and central regions and carry out deadly bombings against high-profile targets in the capital, Mogadishu.
