GAROOWE (Halbeeg News)- The newly elected Puntland president and his deputy, Said Abdullahi Dani and Ahmed Elmi Karaash held meeting with regional security chiefs in Garowe on Wednesday.
The heads of various security department briefed the president about the state of security in the northern region of Somalia.
The President-elect Said Abdullahi Dani urged security chiefs to continue beefing up the security of the region while appreciating their role in ensuring peaceful elections during the electioneering period in the state.
On their part, the forces commanders informed the president-elect about lack of salaries for their soldiers for the past several months.
The new regional leader pledged that his government would work towards paying the remunerations of the security sector in the first meeting since his election on 8th January.
