MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Authorities in Jubbaland state have directed hundreds of people living in Public premises in the state with two weeks ultimatum.
Thousands of people have been living in the Somali government-owned buildings since 1990 when the central government collapsed.
In a statement on Sunday, the minister of public works of Jubbaland state, Ismail Ahmed Garas has ordered the locals to vacate the buildings and other public premises in Kismayo town.
“After we considered the need to station the department’s of the regional government and at the same time the difficulty to rebuild (the premises), we hereby inform the occupants of premises to vacate the buildings within 14 days,” the statement reads in part.
The ministry vowed that it will take action against the violators of the directive.
The minister indicated the decision will enable the administration to immediately renovate the buildings and embark on service delivery to the public.
Garas called on the security agencies to implement order as per required.
