MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – AMISOM forces on Tuesday killed seven Al-Shabaab fighters in an operation in Southern Somalia.
Kenya troops working under the framework of African Union conducted well-organised operation against Al-Shabaab along Tabda-Delahola route.
“Today (Tuesday) at around 11 am, KDF soldiers operating under AMISOM engaged Al-Shabaab militants at a location along Tabda-Delahola supply route,” said a statement from KDF’ public affairs office.
According to the Kenya Military, the troops engaged in fierce fighting with Al-Shabaab fighters.
Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) Spokesman PM Njuguna said the forces neutralised seven fighters and injured an unknown number of the group’s fighters.
Speaking about casualties on Kenya Military, Njuguna confirmed injuries of two KDF soldiers saying the soldiers sustained minor injuries during the intense gunfight.
During the attack, the military seized 9 AK 47 rifles, 10 magazines, 2 rocket-propelled grenade launchers and three grenades from Al-Shabaab.
“KDF soldiers will remain vigilant and will continue to relentlessly pursue terrorists, to ensure peace and security of our country Kenya, as well as support AMISOM operations in order to stabilize Somalia,” said KDF Spokesman PM Njuguna.
