ADDIS ABABA( Halbeeg News)- The Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed today appointed director general and advisors that facilitate the implementation of the crucial reforms of new government.
He appointed seventeen individuals to move forward the work and lay the foundation of the work of the government.
Below is the list of the appointed advisors and director general by prime minister Abiy Ahmed.
- Dr Ambachew Mekonnen- Infrastructure and Urban Development Advisor Minister to the Prime Minister
- Gebregziabher Araya – Deputy Government Whip with the rank of State Minister
- Chane Shimeka – Deputy Government Whip with the rank of State Minister
- Chala Lemi – Deputy Government Whip with the rank of State Minister
- Tesfahun Gobezai – National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister with the rank of State Minister
- Bir.Gen Ahmed Hamza – Director General of Metals and Engineering Corporation (METEC)
- Motuma Mekassa –National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister with the rank of State Minister
- Kebede Yimam- Deputy Commissioner of Environment, Forest and Climate Change
- Azezew Chane- Deputy Commissioner of Customs
- Awel Abdi- Deputy Director General of Metals and Engineering Corporation (METEC)
- Mulugeta Beyene- Deputy Commissioner of Customs
- Tsigereda Kifle- Director General of the Federal HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Office (HAPCO)
- Mrs Yamrot Andualem –Deputy Director General of Armawer Hassen Research Institute
- Dr Mizan Kiros – Director General of Ethiopian Health Insurance Agency
- Hamid Keniso – Deputy Director General of Documents Authentication and Registration Agency
- Kebede Chane –Director General of Refugee and Returnee Affairs Agency
- Mrs Misrak Mamo- Deputy Commissioner of Customs
Since taking office in April, Prime minister Abiy Ahmed has made tangible changes and reforms that were not thinkable in the past.
In his newly announced cabinet last month, PM Abiy appointed half of his cabinet to female in an unprecedented push for gender equality in the continent.
He released thousands of political prisoners in Ethiopian jails and made peace with Eritrea which was Ethiopia’s main enemy.
He also promised to open up the economy of Ethiopia.
