MOGADISHU(Halbeeg News)- The lower house of the federal Parliament of Somalia has approved the 2018 budget during session held in Mogadishu on Wednesday.
The Federal lawmakers unanimously voted in favor of the new supplementary budget 22.5 submitted by the Ministry of the Finance, giving the Federal Government a go-ahead to continue its operations.
During the session chaired by the second deputy speaker of federal parliament, Abdiweli Ibrahim Mudey, 153 lawmakers voted in favor of the budget, 2 rejected while 3 obtained from voting.
This surplus budget that has been raised through income tax will used to pay the salaries of government soldiers after US suspended aid package to units of to Somali military over corruption concerns.
Abdirahman Dualle Beyle, the finance minister of federal government of Somalia talked briefly after the voting exercise thanked the legislators for the approval of the budget submitted by his ministry and promised for accountability and transparency.
