MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – United Nations (UN) envoy to Somalia, Nicholas Haysom has today arrived in Garowe town, the administrative capital of Puntland state.
The delegation of the envoy was welcomed by Puntland officials at the airport.
Mr. Haysom will hold talks with Puntland state leader, Abdiweli Ali Gaas.
The meeting between the two officials is expected to focus on several issues including tensions between the federal and state governments and peace of efforts of Tukaraq town.
This will be the third visit the envoy pays to Somalia’s regional state which is meant to ease the escalating dispute between the federal government and its member states.
Last Thursday, Mr. Haysom visited Baidoa, the administrative capital of Southwest state where he held talks with the state’s leader, Sharif Hassan Sheikh.
During the meeting, the UN envoy urged the leaders of the two levels of governments to establish a homegrown solution.
