MOGADISHU( Halbeeg News)- The command of SNA 60th division distanced itself of any interference of the upcoming presidential elections in some of the regional states.
The commander of the 60th division of Somali National Army, General Ibrahim Yarrow told briefing the forces urged the military not to meddle with the forthcoming elections in the regional states.
“It is none of your business who is elected, work with whoever is elected” said the commander while briefing the forces.
The sentiments of the commander comes barely days after dozens of politicians elected from South West state who met in Mogadishu accused the federal government of Somalia of interfering with the upcoming presidential election of South West state.
The presidential election of the regional state[ South West] scheduled for 17th November 2018 is less than three weeks away.
The speaker of South West regional assembly, Abdikadir Sharif Shekhuna a 27 member presidential electoral committee aimed to preside over the presidential elections. The members have also elected chairman and vice chairman of the committee.
The United States has welcomed the creation of the South West State election committee and selection of the leadership team ahead of next month presidential election.
In a Twitter post, US Mission Somalia affirmed that they support the process to hold elections saying they will back no individuals.
The mission called for a free and fair election urging the sides to refrain interference of the region’s upcoming election process.
