MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – The government of Kuwait has urged world leaders to support Somalia to the challenges it is facing to bounce back on its feet.
Speaking at the ministerial meeting of the OIC Contact Group on Somalia held on Saturday in Mogadishu, Kuwait Assistant Foreign Minister of Kuwait for International Organizations Affairs Nasser Al-Heen said Somalia to overcome the “delicate” conditions it is going through.
“The brotherly Republic of Somalia is witnessing a delicate political, economic and humanitarian stage that has hindered its ability to achieve the required development rates, a matter that necessitates that the international community provide political and material support to create a supportive environment for the elected Somali government,” he said.
The Gulf nation pledged to continues its support to Somali people to rebuild their country.
“Kuwait will spare no effort to coordinate and intensify efforts with its brothers and friends to safeguard security and safety of Somalia in various fields in line with Resolution No. 1/45 issued by the 45th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation on the situation in Somalia to achieve its development goals,” he said.
He pointed out that achieving these goals will contribute in one way or another that Somalia would keep up with the modern world and will cast a positive shadow on the recovery and development of the Somali economy.
He added that Kuwait’s hosting of the donor conference to support the education sector in Somalia in the future stems from its belief in the importance of the role of education in development and stability.
