MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has arrived in Marka town, 100km southwest of Somali capital, Mogadishu.
The president is expected to hold talks with talks the residents of the town and the local authorities.
He will also meet with hundreds of soldiers from 14th October Brigade based Marka town.
This will be the first of the President since he assumed the office in 2017.
Somali forces have been carrying out operations against Al-Shabaab in and outside the town in recent months.
In August, the forces re-captured parts of the town from Al-Shabaab fighters.
In 2016, Al-Shabaab fighters lost control of the town after Somali forces supported by troops from the Ugandan contingent of the AU Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) defeated the group’s fighters.
