MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Hussein Osman Hussein has resigned from his post as National Intelligence and Security Agency in a bid to run for this year’s presidential election in Southwest state.
A number of sources who spoke to Halbeeg News confirmed the resignation of the Spy boss saying that running for the upcoming presidential election could be one of the bold reasons behind Hussein’s quit as the Intelligence chief.
In a Twitter post, Somali Spy agency also confirmed Hussein’s decision to leave the office.
“The director of National Intelligence and Security Agency, Hussein Osman Hussein today tendered his resignation over personal reasons,” the agency stated.
Mr. Hussein has been in Baidoa town since last week where he was trying to convince Former Deputy Al-Shabaab, Mukhtar Robow to drop his bid to run for the presidential elections of Southwest state.
Mr. Mukhtar was barred from the presidential elections by the Interior Ministry over international sanctions.
