MOGDISHU(HALBEEG NEWS)- US forces in coordination with federal government forces have conducted airstrike against Al-shabab fighters in Lower Jubba region killing 18 Al-shabab fighters a statement from AFRICOM confirms.
“ In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. forces conducted an airstrike in self defense, targeting Al-shabab 50 kilometres North West of Kismayo, Lower Jubba province, September 21, 2018” the statement reads in part.

Two (2) other terrorists were killed by Somali forces with small arms fire during the engagement” the statement further reads.
AFRICOM underlined that there were no civilian casualties reported during the airstrike.
“We currently assess no civilians were injured or killed in this airstrike”
AFRICOM said in the statement that U.S. forces will continue to use all authorized and appropriate measures to protect U.S. citizens and to disable terrorist threats.
“US forces will continue to use all authorized and appropriate measures to protect US citizen and disable terrorist threats. This include partnering with AMISOM and National Security forces ( SNSF) in combined counterterrorism operations and targeting terrorists, their training camps and their safe havens throughout Somalia and the region”
