MOGADISHU (Halbeeg) – The Somali government has deployed hundreds of military soldiers in parts of Somali capital to enhance to the security.
Mogadishu has recently witnessed deadly attacks carried out Al-Shabaab fighters as the government the was struggling restored peace in the city.
Security and Mogadishu stabilisation forces have been operating the Security checkpoints of the city since May.
Somali president, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has directed the military to take over the security of the city.
According to reliable sources, the soldiers deployed in the city mainly came from 14th October battalion.
The contingent was shortly after last October truck bombing and was therefore dubbed 14th October Battalion.
The move to deploy the military soldiers comes barely four days after President Farmajo ordered the security agencies to reopen major roads in Mogadishu.
The Somali government has increased operations hunt down Al-Shabab members and their sympathisers in and outside Mogadishu.
Somali troops backed by continental troops have launched offensives against Al-Shabaab fighters in South and Central regions of Somalia.
Meanwhile, Al-Shabab also stepped its deadly bomb attacks in Mogadishu.
In the last two weeks, the group killed over 20 people in suicide bombs that took place at the country’s Interior Ministry and near the presidential palace.
Al-Shabab wants to overthrow the Somali government and install their owned administration in the country.
